a digital audio or video file or recording, usually part of a themed series, that can be downloaded from a website to a media player or computer
This is the first installment of Podcast Plugin where I’ll feature some of the best podcasts online.
This week we’ll take a look at The Read, a chart-topping podcast featuring the hilarious Kid Fury and Crissle.
The Read is part of the LoudSpeakers Network and you can tune in to a new episode every week on iTunes, iHeart Radio Talk, Soundcloud & Stitcher.
The format of the show is simple, but oh so effective. They start off each episode with the hot-topics, where the hosts chat about the newest celebrity
gossip TRASH. Nothing is off-limits. Except maybe the Carters-Knowles family.
Next up, they take listener letters. The duo are asked (mostly) anonymous questions by listeners, who may not be prepared for the advice/lecture to follow. Kid Fury and Crissle offer their two-cents to listeners with relationship/family drama and we even get updates from listeners who after hearing the words of wisdom, let us know how the situation pans out.
The last segment is called The Read. And this is where things get real. If you’re not too sure what a read is, check out the urban dictionary definition below
To tell someone about themself, mostly used by gay black men.
“That was a read honey!”
“Don’t do it honey, I will read your ass”
Now I don’t know how accurate the definition is, but the reads touch on topics like racism, homophobia, and even Blue Ivy’s hair. Sometimes we may even get hilarious, but passionate rants about New York’s weather or subway system.
On occasion the podcast does feature a guest. In the past they’ve had celebrity chef Roble Ali and Love and Hip Hop’s very own Stevie-J.
They’ve also taken the show on the road, travelling across the U.S. to perform in front of live audiences in cities like Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Houston. I’m still crossing my fingers for the day they announce they’re going international. New York is only a hop, skip and a jump away from Toronto.
The podcast is usually runs around an hour to an hour and a half, but it will keep you entertained 100% of the time.
